Before operating a disconnector, check that the circuit breaker and corresponding grounding switch are open and properly disconnected, and confirm that the grounding wire within the power supply area has been removed. Manually closing the isolator should be quick and decisive, but avoid excessive force at the end of the closing operation. After closing, check that the moving and static contacts are fully closed and in good contact. Manually opening the isolator should be slow and cautious. When the moving contact just separates from the static contact, open it quickly and check that the moving and static contacts are disconnected.
During operation, if the disconnector becomes stuck, the moving contact cannot be inserted into the static contact, or the switch is not fully closed, stop operation and wait until the defect is eliminated before continuing. When operating an isolator, pay special attention to any abnormalities such as a broken porcelain bottle; evacuate the area immediately to prevent personal injury. For electrically operated isolators, the operating power supply should be disconnected during normal operation. When operating an isolator with a locking device, follow the locking device's instructions. Do not use the unlocking key or tamper with the locking device.
The following operations are strictly prohibited using disconnect switches:
1) Opening and closing operations under load;
2) De-energizing distribution lines;
3) Opening and closing lightning arresters during lightning strikes;
4) Opening and closing voltage transformers when the system is grounded (neutral point ungrounded) or when there is an internal fault in the voltage transformer;
5) Opening and closing arc suppression coils when the system is grounded.
