Working Principle
- When the earthing switch is closed, the applied torque causes the main shaft to overcome the resistive torque, driving the crank arm to rotate in the closing direction. This causes the operating lever on the earthing switch to pass the dead point of the compression spring, releasing its energy and rapidly closing the earthing switch to the closed position. The earthing switch assembly maintains firm contact with the flange (blade) of the stationary contact via a disc spring.
- When opening the earthing switch, the applied torque causes the main shaft to overcome the main torque and spring force, driving the crank arm to rotate in the opening direction. This causes the compression spring of the earthing switch to pass the dead point, releasing its energy and preparing for the next closing. The earthing switch and its closing speed are independent of the operator's speed.
